06-18-1983 hardly sucked, one of the best of the year...huge morning dew...only an audience copy has existed...tis a shame...

I found the PITB to be the highlight of the show,a really developed and well played version. The first 5 minutes of the Dew are real good with Jerry belting and Phil going off some, but the end jam doesn't deliver, as usual.

i have to agree w/strat on this, a quality performance for the year, and Charlie Miller calls this Morning Dew the best ever (which i don't necessarily agree with) ... perhaps you'd like to edit your reply?

Charlie may make a damn fine remaster but that Dew is no where near the best ever. Not even close. Though its interesting to hear he said that.

I'd rate 5/8/77 as the best dew, Saratoga is in my top 5, just heard it for the first time a month ago. Not just CM picked it >> http://gratefuldeadprojects.com/Morning_Dew.html

Yea maybe I was a lil harsh on my response. It actually is a really good dew and seems to possess all of the qualities I think a good dew should possess. Its just a bit sloppy and I'd prefer jerry's solo to be less strumming/chords.

ANd thanks for the link. Very cool.

Its really hard for me to pick a best morning dew. I really prefer 72 style dews overall, bobby is amazing. Though I agree to a point. 5/8 and 5/22 (both equally epic IMO) are the "pinnacle" dews. The are executed essentially, perfect. With 5/8 being a bit more raw and rockin where 5/22 is just... perfect i guess.

I'm gonna take this opportunity to hype my latest favorite and what I would likely put into my top 5 dew bin. Or if i could only have 5...
